We tweet, create profiles, post statuses, all in an effort to present ourselves, our lives and our identities to millions across the world in a matter of seconds, yet for most of us, when asked who we are, our answer is something much closer to home. Our answers are founded on family, on experience, on locality, but repeatedly there are many who feel something is missing.
“The question of identity impacts everything we do. If we don't know who we are, we will strive, perform, manipulate, withdraw and seek false comfort - all because we have not received this most important of all revelations to a child of God. ” says Floyd McClung, author of The Father Heart of God. So understanding what the bible says about God as father, particularly in the Gospels is vital.
The Message Works is supporting a research project looking at the fatherhood of God in Matthew’s Gospel. One of the aim is to see how Matthew wants us to understand ourselves as the children of God and our relation to him as their Father. To read more click here!
